Brussels Adopts Hungary-Croatia Cross-Border Co-operation Programme for 2014-2020

The Hungary-Croatia Cross-Border Co-operation Programme is one of the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) Programmes. Thanks to its former success during the former periods and according to EU goals the Programme is announced for the 2014-2020 period as well. The 7th of September was huge progress concerning the future of this Programme when the Commission officially adopted the Programme document.

The aim of the ETC programmes is to contribute to the general economic, social and territorial cohesion of the EU by handling interregional and international issues. The Croatian-Hungarian Co-operation Programme consists of four main priorities which are the following:

Priority Axis 1:

Economic Development - Enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs

Priority Axis 2:

Sustainable Use of Natural and Cultural Assets – Preserving and Protecting the Environment and Promoting Resource Efficiency

Priority Axis 3:

Cooperation - Enhancing Institutional Capacity and an Efficient Public Administration

Priority Axis 4:

Education - Investing in Education, Training, including Vocational Training for Skills and Lifelong Learning by Developing Education and Training Infrastructure

As the Programme is accepted now, we are looking forward to the announcement of open calls - the first ones are estimated  to be published by the end of 2015.

It is new to this Programme that in the 2014-2020 period profit-oriented organizations can be granted as well (priority axis 1). We assume that there will be an approx. 8 million Euros of budget for this purpose with an outstandingly high (70-80%) grant ratio.

Besides profit oriented organizations –similarly to former periods – local governments and non-profit organizations can also apply for grants within priority axis 2-4 from a fund of approx.  63 million Euros.

The affected counties from the Hungarian side are Baranya, Somogy and Zala and from the Croatian side Međimurska, Varaždinska, Koprivničko-križevačka, Bjelovarsko-bilogorska, Virovitičko-podravska, Požeško-slavonska, Osječko-baranjska and Vukovarsko-srijemska.

Our colleague, György Márton has participated as a key expert in the development process of the Programme. This gives our company special expertise which is vital for elaboration of successful projects about to be co-financed from this Programme.
